The new AgStar Arena is well under construction on the Minnesota State Fairgrounds.
Last week, workers were busy working on electrical, plumbing, roofing and siding.
The 27,000-square-foot agricultural education facility is scheduled to welcome guests for the very first time in April during Horse Expo. Then, it'll be home to 4-H, FFA and open-class exhibitors during the State Fair, and livestock and equine shows throughout the year.
Arena features include:
•15,000-square-foot oval show ring; arena floor of layered footing of sand/clay mix with clay base
•Multiple entrances for exhibitors, animals and the public for improved access
•Enclosed structure combining wood, metal and brick for extended seasonal use; enhanced lighting, fire suppression system and audio system
•Exhibitor amenities including wash racks and portable stalls
•Spectator area with up to 600 seats
The Minnesota State Fair Foundation is offering an opportunity to honor individuals, special events, organizations or even prized animals in Star Plaza, outside the visitors' entrance to the new arena. Purchase a personalized 8" x 8" paver for $300 each by March 1 for installation before the beginning of the summer livestock show season. Deadline for installation before the 2012 State Fair is Aug. 1.For more information, please contact Kay Cady at (651) 632-2630 or [email protected].
