Recycled billboard vinyl is finding its way onto the farm as a cheap, tough alternative to tarpaulins.
The waterproof material can be used as shade material, wind screens, covers for haystacks, barn floor covers and about anything one could imagine. The material is 20 mils thick (blue plastic tarps generally are 5 mils thick) and are about 75% less expensive than purchased tarps of similar quality.
Using vinyl cement, some producers are gluing these sheets together to make even larger covers.
Recycled Billboard Tarps, is selling this vinyl for prices starting at $60. Common sizes are 10X30 feet, 12X42 feet, and 14X48 feet. For more information, visit www.recycledbillboardtarps.com.
