Apply Now for Ag Ed Grants

Deadline is May 16 for grant program awarding up to $235,000.

The Minnesota Agricultural Education Leadership Council is accepting grant applications for statewide and regional agricultural education initiatives across Minnesota.

The Common Fund Grants Program has up to $235,000 available in this fiscal year.

All grant applications are to be sent to MAELC offices and postmarked before or on Monday, May 16, 2011.

Common Fund Grants are designed to encourage collaborative initiatives with an emphasis on agricultural education. New and innovative ideas are encouraged to support the regional or statewide revitalization of existing agricultural education programs and the creation of new agricultural, food, and environmental education programs at the primary, secondary, and postsecondary levels. Innovative proposals are also being sought for the expansion of agricultural literacy and strengthening of Farm Business Management programs.

Since its establishment, MAELC has provided more than $2 million in competitive grants, scholarships, sponsored projects and awards.

Grant applications are available on-line at www.maelc.state.mn.us. Hard copies of the grant applications may be obtained by contacting MAELC offices at 612-624-6256, or e-mailing Sarah Dornink, MAELC program associate, [email protected].

Established in 1997 by the Minnesota Legislature, MAELC is comprised of 16 educators, legislators, government officials, and agribusiness and community organization representatives. The council represents all of the major institutions and groups in Minnesota with an interest in agricultural education and serves as a focal point for initiatives to improve agricultural education in the state.
